About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center awarded a sole source contract FA857125P0096 valued at $336,685.00 to Balance Technology Inc on July 14, 2025, for the procurement of two propeller balance stations to support the R391 Propeller Shop at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The contract provides one propeller balancer and one blade balancer to augment the existing two BTI balance stations currently used for C130J and PPP fleet maintenance operations. These additional balance stations are necessary to eliminate single point failures and prevent work stoppages when the existing equipment requires OEM maintenance, as the current stations have resulted in operational disruptions that prevent the 402d Commodities Maintenance Group from supporting critical aircraft fleet maintenance. The procurement addresses a commercial requirement where Balance Technology Inc serves as the original equipment manufacturer for the existing balance stations, making this a sole source acquisition to ensure compatibility with current operations.
Notice text
This is a sole source, commercial requirement. The Dowty Propeller Shop in B350 currently has one BTI prop balancer and one BTI blade balancer. These two balancers were provided in the initial standup of the shop by Dowty GE. These two stands are specifically called for use during overhaul within the Dowty commercial maintenance manuals. These balancers are extremely sensitive and occasionally require OEM maintenance. This acquisition is to add one each prop balancer and blade balancer to reduce/eliminate downtime during OEM maintenance. The existing stations are single point failures and have resulted in work stoppages requiring OEM remedy. During the repairs, the shop is not able to support the PPP and C130J fleet.
Balance Technology Inc (BTI) is the OEM for the existing two balance stations in the R391 Propeller shop. This acquisition is for two identical balance stations to augment the existing two in support of the 402d Commodities Maintenance Group (CMXG), Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.
Awarded contract FA857125P0096 to BALANCE TECHNOLOGY INC for 336685.00 on 2025-07-14.
