About this opportunity
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), a Department of Energy facility operated by the University of California, is seeking a dilution refrigeration system to support the Quantum Systems Accelerator program through this combined Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Quotation (RFQ). The procurement requires vendors to supply a system capable of delivering 1,000 W cooling power at 100 mK operating temperature with a base operating temperature below 10 mK, continuous cooling operation with greater than one-week base hold time, and compatibility with 100 flexible microwave lines and 8 superconducting readout lines. Respondents must demonstrate a proven record of delivering dilution refrigerators meeting these specifications and should submit relevant published product literature, technical specifications, capability statements, and a quotation. LBNL has expressed a preference for refrigerators with a documented history of usage in superconducting quantum computing technology research laboratories. The response deadline is March 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM Pacific Time, with all submissions, including the completed Company Information Form and supporting documentation, required to be submitted via email to Jane Graves, Sr. Subcontracts Administrator, at JEGraves@lbl.gov.
This opportunity carries no set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractor or award value information has been disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice. The procurement does not represent a commitment to award and does not obligate LBNL to provide compensation for response preparation. Respondents should note that proprietary or confidential information included in their submissions may be publicly disclosed without notification or opportunity for redaction, as responses are subject to disclosure under the University's Prime Contract with the Department of Energy. The system specifications include 8 cryogenic HEMT amplifiers at 4K, attenuation breakout blocks at 4K, 1K, and mixing chamber plates, and overall compatibility with greater than 500 microwave lines. This RFI/RFQ is governed by procurement policies under the University's Prime Contract with the Department of Energy, and interested vendors are encouraged to respond as soon as possible given the March 23, 2026 deadline.
