Quantum Benchmarking - Proposers Day

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency published Special Notice DARPA-SN-21-22 to announce a proposers day webcast for their Quantum Benchmarking program. The webcast scheduled for April 20, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time will provide information to potential offerors on program objectives and mechanics for developing hardware-agnostic computing benchmarks and tools to estimate hardware resource needs for benchmark performance thresholds.

The objective of the Quantum Benchmarking program is to establish benchmarks that could enable revolutionary advances if quantum computers achieve sufficient size and quality. The notice details that advance registration is required no later than April 15, 2021 for U.S. citizens, residents, and foreign nationals subject to export restrictions to participate in the webcast. The webcast will provide program goals and mechanics to potential proposers and include lightning talks, individual meetings, and networking functions to facilitate teaming among eligible parties seeking to develop benchmarks and tools that can assess the performance of different quantum computing hardware designs.
