About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) division is procuring a QIAxcel Connect System for the National Identification Services (NIS) Molecular Mycology Lab (MML). This fully automated, high-throughput DNA analysis system will replace traditional, labor-intensive gel analysis methods used in the identification of insect specimens intercepted through domestic and Agriculture Quarantine Inspection (AQI) programs at ports of entry and emergency program activities. The primary objectives include reducing working time, minimizing human error, and improving the quality of identification results for the NIS National Specialists. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on April 7, 2026, with a deadline for questions or comments by April 13, 2026. While the notice does not specify detailed evaluation criteria in the available materials, interested vendors should review the Statement of Work (SOW) document provided to understand the technical requirements and specifications for this procurement.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation, meaning it is open to unrestricted competition. The available materials do not identify any incumbent contractors or current vendors, nor do they specify an award value or budget range for this contract. Similarly, specific numerical details regarding system quantities, installation timelines, or service duration are not disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice itself. Interested vendors should obtain and carefully review the "SOW for Qiagen QIAxcel Connect for AKennedy.pdf" document posted on April 7, 2026, which likely contains detailed specifications, performance requirements, and additional procurement details necessary to prepare a competitive response.
