About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center intends to award a sole-source, firm-fixed price purchase order to QIAGEN LLC for maintenance services on eight specialized laboratory instruments used for PCR assays. These instruments include QIAgility, QIAcube, QIAsymphony SP, and QIAxcel Advanced systems, which are critical for laboratory productivity and efficiency. The procurement will be conducted under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, which allows for single-source procurement when only one source is reasonably available. Interested parties are invited to submit their capabilities and business information by March 3, 2025, with responses to be electronically submitted to Kimala Winfield or Malinda Dehner at NIH. Respondents must provide details including their SAM UEI, company information, GSA schedules, NAICS codes, and business type classification.
The contract is not set aside for any specific business type and will be awarded to QIAGEN LLC, the original equipment manufacturer, who is the sole provider of maintenance services for these specific instruments. The total contract value will not exceed the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $250,000, with a base performance period of twelve months. The procurement falls under NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance), which has a large business standard size of $34.0 million. The maintenance agreement aims to provide factory-trained personnel for preventative and remedial maintenance, ensuring optimal instrument performance and avoiding costly equipment repairs. These instruments are not sold by distributors in the United States, further justifying the sole-source procurement approach.
