About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Network Contracting Office 17 has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Procurement to Biodesix, Inc. for lung cancer screening laboratory testing services. This notice, posted on April 13, 2026, pertains to the provision of medical laboratory services supporting the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service at the Texas VA Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System, with service locations in McAllen, Harlingen, and Corpus Christi, Texas. The procurement is structured as a firm-fixed-price contract covering two specific blood-based diagnostic tests: Nodify XL2 and Nodify CDT, each with quantities of 10 units across five ordering periods. The agency has determined that a sole source procurement is justified under 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1) and related federal acquisition regulations, indicating that only one source can meet the government's specific requirements.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to inform interested parties of the VA's intent to award a contract to Biodesix, Inc. while providing a 10 business day opportunity for other capable sources to submit competing offers and demonstrate comparable or more advantageous capabilities. All responsible contractors may submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations by email to Contracting Officer Delphia Schoenfeld (delphia.schoenfeld@va.gov, 210-417-7495) by April 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time, referencing solicitation number 36C25726Q0461. There are no specific eligibility restrictions mentioned; however, contractors must demonstrate capability to provide the specified lung cancer screening tests using blood draw collection methods only. If no affirmative response is received within the 10 business day window, the contract will be automatically awarded to Biodesix, Inc. without further notification, establishing a streamlined procurement process for this specialized laboratory testing requirement.
