About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 19, operating through the Rocky Mountain Acquisition Center, is conducting market research to identify qualified contractors capable of providing real-time polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR) testing services for gastrointestinal and respiratory diagnostics at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. The procurement seeks a contractor to supply a complete testing solution, including the PCR testing instrument, all equipment, reagents, standards, controls, supplies, consumable items, parts, and accessories necessary to generate reportable patient test results for the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department. This is a sources sought notice intended to assess market capabilities rather than an active solicitation, and responses are entirely voluntary with no financial obligation to the government. The primary evaluation consideration centers on the contractor's ability to meet technical specifications and pricing structures, which may include cost per reportable result (CPRR), cost per test, reagent rental, equipment rental, or alternative pricing models. Interested parties must submit detailed capability statements including company information, UEI number, business size classification, and contact details by November 12, 2025, at 8:00 AM Mountain Time; failure to provide complete information will result in exclusion from consideration.
This procurement is classified under NAICS code 334516 (Medical - Reference Laboratory Testing) with PSC code Q301 (Reference Laboratory Testing), and no set-aside designation has been applied, indicating the requirement may be pursued through full and open competition or potentially reserved for small businesses pending market research results. The notice does not identify any current incumbents or existing contractors, nor does it specify anticipated award values or budget ranges. The scope of work encompasses all consumable and capital requirements necessary for continuous laboratory operations, suggesting a comprehensive service contract rather than a simple equipment purchase. The government's emphasis on flexible pricing models indicates openness to various commercial arrangements, from full-service managed contracts to equipment-only solutions with per-test billing. This market research phase will inform the subsequent procurement strategy and solicitation structure, making participation valuable for contractors seeking to establish themselves as potential sources for this ongoing laboratory testing requirement.
