About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10, has issued a Special Notice for Pyxis Medication Dispensing Systems Services at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. The VA intends to award a firm fixed price contract under NAICS Code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) with a size standard of $34 million. The agency plans to negotiate on a sole source basis with CareFusion Solution LLC located in San Diego, California, citing FAR 6.302.1 justification that only one responsible source exists and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The contract period will run from December 1, 2025, through November 30, 2026. The procurement falls under PSC category J065 for maintenance, repair, and rebuild of medical, dental, and veterinary equipment and supplies.
The purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors of the VA's intent to proceed with a sole source procurement due to the specialized nature of the Pyxis Medication Dispensing System services required. The contractor will be responsible for providing all parts, labor, equipment, materials, and supervision necessary to service the medication dispensing systems at the medical center. Interested parties who believe they can provide competitive alternatives must submit responses by 3:00 PM Eastern on September 24, 2025, to Alexis.Alexander1@va.gov. Any responses must demonstrate clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the government. No solicitation package is available, and the determination whether to compete this procurement remains solely within the government's discretion. The notice serves as the VA's method of market research to determine if viable alternatives to the intended sole source award exist.
