About this opportunity
The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to conduct market research for the potential acquisition of a Pusher Workboat to support the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The Navy plans to award a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) contract in fiscal year 2026 for one workboat that will assist with maneuvering and docking Yard Patrol training craft and provide general logistical support around campus waterways. Key specifications include a steel hull construction with tall flybridge/pilot house, dimensions of 25-28 feet in length and 14-18 feet beam, gross weight of 8-12 tons, maximum speed of 8 knots, and propulsion via two Cummins QSB 6.7 305 HP engines. Interested parties must submit a five-page capability summary in PDF format that includes company contact details, business classification, production facility locations, vessel capabilities, technical specifications, relevant experience, and approximate pricing. The response deadline is 2:00 PM EST on September 24, 2025.
This procurement opportunity does not include any set-aside designations, making it open to all qualified contractors, though small businesses, veteran-owned businesses, and other designated business categories are particularly encouraged to participate. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the documentation. The RFI does not specify award values or budget ranges, requesting only approximate pricing information from respondents as part of the market research effort. The acquisition involves procuring a single workboat unit with delivery planned for fiscal year 2026. This RFI represents preliminary market research under FAR Part 10 and does not constitute a commitment by the government to issue a formal solicitation, with all response costs to be borne by the participating companies.
