About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Facilities Engineering Command has issued a Limited / Sole Source Justification Notice for the procurement of Liquefied Propane (LP) Gas at U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo, Japan. The contract, awarded to CHOPRO, K.K. CO., involves delivering LP gas in 50 Kg and 10 Kg cylinders, meeting specific technical requirements under Japanese gas control laws. The sole source justification is primarily based on CHOPRO's long-standing (over 15 years) infrastructure and existing base access, with the vendor having already installed critical gas supply equipment across multiple buildings. Changing contractors would potentially cause months-long service disruptions and significant operational impacts, making CHOPRO the most viable vendor for continuous gas supply. The contract covers the provision of 80% pure, odorized LP gas, with the odorizing agent being undetectable during combustion, and includes all necessary equipment, regulators, and connection services to the government's LP gas distribution system. While the exact contract value was not specified, the contract was awarded on February 28, 2025, following the expiration of the previous LP gas contract on November 20, 2024.
