About this opportunity
The Army Contracting Command - Aberdeen Proving Ground seeks agentic artificial intelligence solutions for Project Griffin: Intelligent Response and Orchestration Node (IRON), a cyber defense automation platform for the Department of War Information Network, with solution briefs due August 27, 2026, at 17:00 EDT. This is an Army Open Solicitation (AOS W9128Z-25-S-A002) with no set-aside; as of Amendment 1 (August 24), the Government is requesting solution briefs only and will not respond to submitted questions.
Place of performance is Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The IRON platform must ingest and analyze security alerts from sensors and Unified Security Information and Event Management systems in near real-time, distinguish genuine threats from false positives, and automatically execute defensive actions via Policy Enforcement Points including Tychon EDR, Microsoft Defender, Intune, and Elastic Defend. Required capabilities include contextual threat analysis, agentic AI decision-making, closed-loop ticketing integration with AESMP or Rally, user-defined confidence thresholds for response tiers, a master kill switch deployable within five seconds, open API standards (RESTful, JSON, STIX/TAXII), fail-safe downgrade to Tier 1 alerts on connectivity loss, and one-click automated rollback for Tier 3/4 actions. The solution must demonstrate capabilities across seven distinct workflows: Firewall Blocks, Firewall Block Verification, USIEM Tuning, C2 Beaconing Detection, Cloud-Based Internet Isolation with Secure Web Gateway Break and Inspect Response, Anomalous Server Activity, and Proactive Patching Response. Integration occurs at Network Enterprise Technology Command at IL5 classification as either cloud-based or on-premises.
The Government intends to award Firm-Fixed-Price FAR Part 12 contracts or Other Transactions for Prototype Projects under Commercial Solutions Opening procedures, with the right to make multiple awards, a single award, or no award. Solution Briefs must include title page, five-page technology overview, one-page rough order of magnitude with pricing by milestone, one-page notional schedule, and IP disclosures. The NAICS code is 541715, Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences. Evaluation focuses on technical merit, schedule feasibility, ROM compliance, and IP/data rights compliance; any solution using unauthorized Department of War AI platforms will be rated as lacking technical merit.
