Emergency Repair of Electrical Power to Bldg. 107
SCOPE OF WORK
Contractor will furnish all labor, tools, materials, equipment and supervision to complete the following:
For the purposes of this contract, samples, test reports, certificates, and manufacturers' literature and data will be submitted to Project Engineer for approval. The following text refers to all items collectively as SUBMITTALS. Submit for approval, all of the items specifically mentioned under the separate sections of the specification prior to work for the specific section, with information sufficient to evidence full compliance with contract requirements. Materials, fabricated articles and the like to be installed in permanent work shall equal those of approved submittals. Refer to Sample & Shop Drawings on Specifications.
Currently the main feed from Network 1 to the chapel Bldg. 107 shorted due to the underground piping corroding and the elements over time destroyed the integrity of the conductors.
In the meantime Bldg. 107 has been running on generator until power is restored utilizing normal power supplied directly from the facility.
The underground feed from Network #1 for the chapel that shorted is to be abandoned in place. It runs from Network#1 then underground to about midpoint of our corridor between Bldg. 100 (main facility) and Bldg. 107 (chapel) where it connects to a 200 Amp disconnect. From this disconnect, it continues down the tunnel through our equipment mechanical room at the Nursing Home basement. It then runs the entire length of the chapel basement to the chapel bldg. transformer and panels.
The load side appears to be in good physical condition with good insulation resistance on the load side at the chapel and failing insulation resistance readings on the line side from the disconnect to Network #1.
The chapel is to be refed utilizing our 480 V Nursing Home substation directly above the Nursing Home equipment room in the basement.
The line side of the chapel feed from network #1 is to be spliced at the equipment mechanical room at the Nursing Home bldg. basement and re-routed to the 1200 Amp panel MDS directly above the equipment mechanical room.
The chapel feeder is to be cut and a splice box installed to make it possible to feed to the Nursing Home substation above.
Determine appropriate space in basement mechanical room for the splice box installation.
Determine clear spot to route conduit above to 480 V substation. Provide all core drilling, fire sealing ,etc as necessary to route conduit.
All hot conductors to be 3/0 and ground #4.
Install conductors in 3 Rigid Metal Conduit from the splice box to the 480 V substation.
Remove all old conductors from the area the splice box is to be installed to the trough at the underground corridor by the 200 A disconnect where the feed from Network #1 enters. Cap and seal the conduit.
Provide a new Square D I-Line bolt on 3 phase 200 Amp breaker to be installed on the 480 V 1200 Amp MDS panel as the load at the Chapel is measured at approximately 93 KVA peak load. Remove the spare 250 Amp breaker at panel MDS if space cannot be made for the new 200 Amp feed. Breaker to be 14000 kAIC.
Reconnect disconnected hot conductor feeds from Bldg. 107 disconnect at basement inside disconnect connecting to transformer for Chapel Building loads.
Provide all testing of all connections, equipment, conductors, etc newly installed.
Verify power restoration to Chapel Bldg. 107 loads.
Update the panel directory at MDS.
Provide As-Built drawings to VA of all work done showing all specifics and any changes during construction.
Implement all lock out and tag out procedure if any shutdowns are necessary.
Coordinate all work with Project Engineer.
Provide same material for replacement of any areas possibly damaged during construction.
Fire stop all penetrations on a daily basis and as per NFPA 101 and VA specs.
Must clean construction site on a daily basis.
Any drawings provided must be field verified by contractor for accuracy. If field conditions dictate different measurements, please communicate with project engineer before making any changes.
If contractor has possibly a different idea due to field conditions that may benefit the VA, please communicate idea to project engineer before making any changes.
