About this opportunity
This Special Notice, posted on April 28, 2026, by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center, announces a procurement requirement for five Skurka AC Motors. The motors are identified as brand-name, single-source items necessary for the Advanced Airborne Research Equipment (AARE) suite, which is an airborne collection platform utilized by Technical Applications Products (TAP). The procurement falls under the Motor and Generator Manufacturing category (NAICS 335312) and the Motors, Electrical product service code (PSC 6105). This is not a set-aside procurement, meaning it is open to all eligible contractors. The Special Notice applies to a critical national mission capability, as these motors are essential components of the AARE gas collection system.
The primary objective of this procurement is to acquire replacement or additional Skurka AC Motors required to maintain the operational capability of the AARE platform's gas collection system. The submission deadline for interested contractors is May 8, 2026. Notably, this procurement qualifies as a single-source justification under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 12.102(a), which permits the Air Force to proceed without releasing a formal written justification and approval document. While the notice does not explicitly outline specific eligibility criteria, contractors capable of supplying the specified brand-name Skurka AC Motors may submit their interest by the stated deadline. The loss or unavailability of these motors would eliminate critical functionality from equipment tasked with nationally important research and collection operations.
