About this opportunity

The Medical Readiness Contracting Office-West at Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, Texas has issued a sole source notice of intent to award a contract to Rees Scientific Inc for preventative maintenance services. The Department of the Army Medical Command published this Special Notice on June 18, 2025, indicating their intention to award a Firm Fixed-Price contract without competitive bidding. The contract will cover unlimited repairs, preventative maintenance, system testing, validation, certification, calibration services, parts and battery replacement, and software updates for temperature monitoring systems at Brooke Army Medical Center. The agency cites 41 U.S.C. 1901 and FAR 13.501(a)(1)(ii) as the statutory authority for this sole source acquisition, claiming that Rees Scientific Inc is the only source capable of meeting their specific requirements. The contract falls under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance with a size standard of $34.0 million.

While this is designated as a sole source procurement, the government has opened the opportunity for other responsible parties to demonstrate their capabilities by submitting capability statements by 10:00 AM CST on June 27, 2025. Interested contractors must submit their responses via email to the designated Contract Specialist, including their organization's name, CAGE code, address, Unique Entity ID, contact information, and details about any existing contract vehicles such as GSA schedule numbers. The submission must confirm the vendor's ability to provide the specified services and demonstrate that their product fully satisfies the temperature monitoring system requirements. The notice emphasizes that this is published for informational purposes only and is not a request for competitive quotes, with no formal solicitation document available. The government will consider all timely responses that provide sufficient detail for evaluation, though the clear intent remains to award the contract to Rees Scientific Inc based on their unique capability to support the BAMC Logistics Division's specialized equipment needs.
