About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division in Boulder, Colorado, is issuing a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Photon Counting Imaging Tube to support quantum information science research. The procurement seeks a single sensitive imaging detector capable of measuring weak, laser-induced ion fluorescence from trapped ion crystals with individual ion detection capability. Key requirements include time coordinate resolution better than 5 nanoseconds, effective spatial resolution of 400 pixels, the ability to process continuous streams exceeding 1 million photon detection events per second, a bialkali photocathode with specified quantum efficiency, and compatibility with existing Photek model IPD340 tube dimensions and electrical connections. The government will evaluate quotations using a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) approach, with technical capability assessed on an Acceptable/Unacceptable basis and price evaluated for reasonableness. Quotations must be submitted electronically to Angela Hitt, Contracting Officer, at angela.hitt@nist.gov by March 18, 2026, and must remain valid for 90 days. Quoters must provide firm fixed pricing with Net 30 payment terms, technical capability documentation, country of origin/manufacture information, and confirmation of SAM registration.
