About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Space Command, specifically the 2nd Range Operations Squadron at Vandenberg Space Force Base, is conducting market research to procure a high-speed Phantom T4040 camera or equivalent system. The Sources Sought announcement seeks potential vendors capable of providing a 4.2 Megapixel high-speed digital camera with specific technical requirements, including a CMOS back-side illuminated sensor, 9,350 fps recording capability, 2560px X 1664px resolution, and 3 seconds of internal RAM storage. Vendors must complete the attached Sources Sought Questionnaire and submit it to the Contract Specialist Jeffrey Weeks and Contracting Officer James Hluska by December 5, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. PST. The procurement will use the NAICS code 423410 for Photographic Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers, with the goal of identifying potential sources that can meet or exceed the detailed technical specifications outlined in the attachments. This is a market research effort only and does not guarantee a contract will be awarded.

The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this procurement, meaning it is open to all qualifying vendors. The required camera system must include multiple lens mount options (Nikon F and Canon EOS), an 8TB Phantom CineMag-compatible removable storage device, and a ruggedized carrying case. While no specific award value or budget range is disclosed, the technical requirements suggest a high-end, specialized imaging system likely representing a significant investment. The quantity appears to be for a single camera system with associated accessories, intended for the 2nd Range Operations Squadron's Mobile Optics Section. The government emphasizes that this announcement is purely for informational and planning purposes, with no commitment to issue a formal solicitation or award a contract, and vendors will not be compensated for preparing their responses.
