About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command, specifically the 30th Contracting Squadron at Vandenberg Space Force Base, is conducting market research to identify potential contractors for five medium voltage pad-mounted transformers. The procurement targets the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 335311 for Power, Distribution, and Specialty Transformer Manufacturing, with a size standard of 800 employees. This Request for Information (RFI) seeks to determine small business capabilities in providing transformers with specific technical requirements, including stainless-steel construction, copper windings, and compliance with 2016 DOE Efficiency Standards. The government will evaluate responses based on vendors' ability to demonstrate product specifications, expertise, and compliance with the Limitations on Subcontracting clause. Interested firms must email responses to SrA Christopher Mendoza and TSgt Mark Wheeler by 12:30 P.M. PST on April 15, 2025, including their firm name, cage code, and small business status.
The opportunity is designated as a total small business set-aside, requiring at least two qualified and capable small businesses to submit responses demonstrating their qualifications. The transformers range from 112.5 kVA to 750 kVA, with primary voltages of 12.0 kV or 12.47 kV and secondary voltages of 120/208V or 480V. While no specific award value is mentioned, the procurement involves five transformer units with detailed technical specifications, including Munsell-Green exterior painting and dead-front construction. The government emphasizes that this is an informational notice only and does not constitute a commitment to contract or promise of future solicitation. Potential vendors are advised that no compensation will be provided for response preparation, and they should monitor SAM.gov for any future solicitation updates related to this requirement.
