About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health, Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations is preparing to procure an Oxford Nanopore Technologies promethION 2 integrated long-read sequencer, with responses due August 5, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time. The procurement is structured as a non-competitive, sole-source award not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold of $350,000 under FAR Part 13, though the government retains discretion to conduct competitive procurement based on responses received.

The requirement is for one promethION 2 unit, which delivers long-read sequencing with greater informativeness than standard next-generation sequencing. The equipment enables simultaneous whole genome and transcriptome sequencing with base-call modifications and supports real-time multi-omics integration capabilities not available in competing sequencing technologies. NAICS code 541713 (Research and Development in Biotechnology) applies, with PSC 6505 (Drugs and Biologicals).

Interested parties must submit technical proposal, cost-price proposal, period of performance, Unique Entity ID, Taxpayer Identification Number, and business size certification electronically to Vishnuvajjala Hanumanth Rao at vishnuh@mail.nih.gov. All offerors must maintain active SAM registration. Oxford Nanopore Technologies is located at 101 Avenue of the Americas, Floor 7, New York, New York 10013-1943.
