About this opportunity
The Department of Agriculture Forest Service seeks timber marking and cruising services for the Sasquatch Timber Sale at Ottawa National Forest in Michigan, with quotations due June 18, 2026. This RFQ is restricted to Region 9 Timber Mark and Cruise BPA holders; other concerns are not eligible to offer. The procurement is a firm fixed-price call order under an existing Blanket Purchase Agreement.
Place of performance is Watersmeet, Michigan. The scope encompasses approximately 382 acres across 14 payment units: 344 acres of hardwood single-tree selection cruising using Sample Tree Cruising methodology and 38 acres of clearcut harvest with 100% tree counting. Work must be completed by November 30, 2026. The NAICS code is 115310, Support Activities for Forestry; PSC is F099, Natural Resources/Conservation—Other.
The estimated contract value is $150,000, structured at per-acre rates for each harvest type. The government furnishes tree marking paint (blue color), cruise tally cards, and marking guides. The contractor must supply all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision; perform GPS documentation of all sample trees by payment unit; and comply with the Ottawa National Forest Timber Theft Prevention Plan, including paint reconciliation within 10 business days of issuance. Evaluation considers past performance (determined through FedDataCheck and CPARS databases), technical factors addressing contract time and schedule compliance, and price reasonableness, weighted approximately equally. Amendment 1 (issued May 7, 2026) extended the deadline from May 6 to June 18 and added FAR clause 52.222-90 (Addressing DEI Discrimination by Federal Contractors, April 2026). Amendment 2 (issued June 9, 2026) finalized acreage and marking instructions. Contact: Cynthia Horwitz at cynthia.horwitz@usda.gov.
