About this opportunity
This Special Notice is published by the National Park Service (NPS), Department of the Interior (DOI), for a federal contract opportunity to replace the primary water system for the maintenance and housing area at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. The existing water distribution system, which was largely constructed using aging asbestos-cement (AC) pipe, frequently fails due to brittle rubber gasketed joints, leading to leakage and draining of the water storage tanks.
The purpose of this contract is to replace approximately 5,500 linear feet of the AC water distribution piping and two deteriorated water storage tanks. This is a total small business set-aside contract with a NAICS code of 237110 (Water and Sewer Line and Related Structures Construction) and a $45 million size standard. The estimated price range for this 390-calendar day project is $10 million or more. Proposals are due by August 15, 2024, and the proposed solicitation issue date is on or about August 16, 2024. While this is currently an unfunded requirement, the agency expects funds to be available when a contract is awarded. A pre-proposal meeting may be scheduled, with details provided in the solicitation or a forthcoming amendment.
Notice text
Water Distribution Systems Improvements: The existing system was constructed
using asbestos-cement (AC) pipe. Some sections of the pipe have been replaced over the years
since, but approximately 5500 linear feet of this pipe remains in service. The AC pipe frequently
fails as rubber gasketed joints become brittle leading to points of leakage. Failure of these joints
have drained the Park¿s 100,000-gallon water storage tank. The two water storage tanks have
also exceeded their life expectancy and have deteriorated due to the mineral content of the
water.
