About this opportunity

The 42d Contracting Squadron, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, is gathering sources-sought responses from industry to procure Alaskan-style temporary shelter systems (brand name CAMSS-HIT-20QM4W or equal), environmental control units, electrical distribution, and delivery/installation services to support the Officer Training School Blue Thunder location, with responses due by June 2, 2026. This requirement carries a total small business set-aside.

The procurement centers on two shelter system tents with specific dimensional and performance requirements: 20–22 feet wide, 32–32.6 feet long, 10 feet high, Quonset shape, fireproof vinyl covering (15–17 ounces military specification), aluminum frames with no center poles, minimum 10-year field life, and engineering compliance with ASCE 7-10 (60 mph wind load, 20 pounds per square foot snow load). Each shelter requires triple-layer end walls with environmental control unit ports, a UL1640-certified 100-amp power distribution box, 12 triplex receptacles per line, and 50-foot power cable. Two 5-ton environmental control units must deliver 60,000 BTU/hr cooling and 51,000 BTU/hr heating across operational temperature range −50°F to +132°F, with insulated supply and return air ducts.

Performance location is Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama (1200 March Road, Maxwell AFB 36112). All items must be brand new; refurbished equipment is not authorized. Installation, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, certified electrician electrical work, site cleanup, hands-on training, and warranties are contractor-provided at no additional cost. All construction must comply with UFC 3-600-01, AFPAM 10-219V5, NFPA codes, and local requirements.

Respondents must submit by email to gabriel.colon_saldana@us.af.mil or john.putnam.8@us.af.mil with company information, CAGE Code, NAICS 314910 classification confirmation, and documentation of capability or alternative-equipment equivalency.
