The Department of the Army National Guard's 137th Special Operations Wing and 17th Flying Training Unit are conducting market research to identify commercial travel/mobility pod solutions for the OA-1K aircraft, with responses due by June 18, 2026. This is a sources-sought posting; no awards will be made from this notice.

The pod must accommodate a standard 14-inch lug spacing, fit under the fixed wing, and adapt to the OA-1K's existing pylon with accessible doors for storage. Reference commercial products include the MXU-648 and Kihomac ACE pods. Interested vendors should submit literature, capabilities, company information, and a capabilities statement.

The underlying requirement calls for delivery of three external carriage mobility pods within 60 days of contract award, along with 12 months of maintenance and support. Technical specifications include maximum dimensions of 130 inches length by 22.5 inches width by 28.8 inches depth; minimum usable volume of 9.0 cubic feet; cargo-to-empty-weight ratio of 1.9 or greater; compatibility with BRU-71/A aircraft ejector release units without aircraft or pylon modification; adjustable strap tie-down systems; external handles; key-operated locking mechanism; and center of gravity markings. The pod structure must be corrosion-resistant using composite, aluminum, or hybrid materials.

The contractor must deliver a comprehensive Technical Data Package including store drawings, weight and center of gravity data, structural and aerodynamic analysis or test results (ground vibration, ejection, and CFD or wind tunnel testing), qualification test data, and maintenance instructions with inspection timelines. All technical data and software must convey Government Purpose Rights or better per DFARS requirements to support airworthiness certification.
