About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Strategic Acquisition Center is conducting market research to identify qualified sources for Ethicon NEUWAVE Microwave Tissue Ablation Systems or equivalent medical equipment. This Sources Sought Notice seeks a single Requirements Contract for nationwide delivery of microwave tissue ablation systems, with comprehensive equipment including generators, probes, software upgrades, service coverage plans, and accessories. Vendors must meet specific salient characteristics, such as the ability to ablate tumors up to 5cm, deliver 140 Watts of microwave power, and provide touchscreen interfaces with FDA-approved systems. Interested companies must be registered in SAM with the NAICS code 334510 and submit responses by April 9, 2025, at 9:00am EST. The VA will evaluate potential vendors based on their national supply capabilities, technical literature, service plans, and overall technical and operational competence.

The procurement does not have a specific set-aside, though the solicitation encourages responses from Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSB). The contract will have a base 12-month period with four additional 12-month option periods, totaling a potential five-year contract duration. The procurement includes 27 specific Contract Line Items (CLINs) covering various system configurations and accessories. While specific award values are not disclosed in the notice, the comprehensive nature of the contract suggests a significant potential procurement across VA medical facilities nationwide. The solicitation represents a strategic approach to standardizing microwave tissue ablation technology procurement for the Veterans Health Administration's Non-Expendable Equipment National Program.
