About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Special Operations Command is seeking to procure 85 ballistic helmets for base defense and precautionary landing/evasion purposes. The pre-solicitation notice requests capability statements from potential vendors for Gentex Ops Core Fast design helmets with specific technical requirements, including 9mm ballistic protection, compatibility with DPAM NVG mounts, and a high-cut profile. Interested vendors must submit detailed capability statements addressing their company information, CAGE and DUNS numbers, past performance, ability to meet specifications, and delivery timeline. The evaluation will focus on vendors' technical capabilities, compliance with salient characteristics, and capacity to deliver within the 45-day requirement. Responses are due by February 27, 2025, at 1200 MST, with submissions to be sent directly to A1C Christian Baldwin via email.
The opportunity is designated as a total small business set-aside, targeting smaller manufacturers in the apparel accessories and personal armor manufacturing sectors. The procurement involves 81 large-sized and 4 extra-large ballistic helmets, specifically in Tan 499 color with precise part numbers A1570-02G0201 for large and A14570-03G0301 for extra-large sizes. The urgent requirement stems from an upcoming deployment affecting approximately 40% of the squadron within two months, necessitating expedited delivery. While no specific award value is mentioned, the helmets must meet rigorous specifications including a 3-hole mounting pattern, Head-Loc 4-point chinstrap, OCC Dial adjustable fit system, and PowerPath ARC Rail for accessory mounting. The pre-solicitation notice emphasizes that this is an informational document and does not guarantee a subsequent solicitation, serving primarily to identify potential sources for the specialized helmet requirement.
