About this opportunity

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service awarded a sole source contract to West Coast Dirt Works LLC on February 26, 2026, for urgent well system extraction, inspection, and repair services at the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery in Gardnerville, Nevada. The contract, awarded under FAR 6.302.2 (Unusual and Compelling Urgency) and processed through Simplified Acquisition Procedures, addresses an emergency failure of a submersible pump and motor on Well 6, one of four critical water sources serving the facility that houses up to 500,000 fish requiring continuous access to clean water. The justification for sole source procurement stems from the facility's immediate threat of fish mortality, the necessity for rapid emergency response, and the limited availability of qualified vendors—West Coast Pump and Well Works was the only identified source with SAM.gov registration, immediate availability, and prior experience servicing the hatchery's wells at the required depth of approximately 415 feet. The contract value is $31,850 for the base scope of removing, inspecting, and servicing the failed deep-well submersible pump. This commercial acquisition falls below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold, and while the specific contract number is listed as 140FS126P0066, this award notice does not constitute a solicitation and is posted solely to meet postaward notice requirements.
