About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Aviation is conducting market research through this Sources Sought Notice to identify companies capable of manufacturing or legitimately obtaining NSN 1680-012520374, a gun seat assembly for helicopters including the UH-60A, UH-60L, and UH-60V models. The item is currently manufactured under part number 70500-02152-048 by CR Daniels and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, with a Weapon System Designator Code of 40A classified under NAICS code 336413 for Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing. Companies interested in becoming qualified suppliers must submit responses by June 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM Eastern Standard Time to the designated contracting officer via email. To achieve "Approved Source" status, companies must submit a comprehensive Source Approval Request (SAR) package through the established SAR Program, demonstrating their capability to manufacture the product to the same quality level or better than the currently approved item. The evaluation process focuses on technical competency and quality assurance capabilities, with the SAR review process potentially taking over 180 days to complete.

This opportunity does not include any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors capable of meeting the technical requirements. The current approved manufacturers are CR Daniels (CAGE code 15814) and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation (CAGE code 78286), indicating these companies may be considered incumbent contractors for this helicopter component. No specific award values, budget ranges, or quantities are disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, as this is purely a market research effort to identify potential sources rather than an active procurement solicitation. The contracting office is located in Richmond, Virginia, and emphasizes that no funds are available for response preparation and that submission of information is strictly voluntary. Companies must utilize the DoD SAFE file transmission system for SAR submissions and include their CAGE code, NSN, and contact information when requesting access to the submission portal.
