About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is seeking to procure 21 units of a specific aircraft component (NSN 7R-1680-016340295-P8) with a critical engineering and manufacturing requirement. The solicitation is a pre-solicitation notice for a wing pylon component that requires extensive source approval from the design control activity. Only sources previously approved by the Government will be considered, and potential bidders must submit detailed technical information through the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures. The opportunity allows responsible sources to identify their capabilities and submit proposals within 45 days of publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). Evaluation will be based on meeting specific qualification requirements in accordance with FAR clause 52.209-1, with a focus on maintaining the technical quality and design integrity of the flight-critical part.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation and does not mention potential incumbent contractors or precise award values. Delivery is specified as FOB Origin, with the quantity fixed at 21 units. The contract will be awarded through a non-competitive process under FAR 6.302-1, allowing the Government discretion in determining whether to pursue competitive procurement. Technical drawings and detailed data are not available for this requirement, which further emphasizes the specialized nature of the procurement. The proposed contract is time-sensitive, with proposals due by June 4, 2025, and the Government reserves the right to proceed with award based on Fleet support needs, even if source approval processes are not fully completed.
