About this opportunity
This Special Notice from the Securities and Exchange Commission announces their intent to award a sole source purchase order to PitchBook Data, Inc. for a subscription to private equity data. The SEC requires this data to support its regulatory mission and analysis of private markets.
The SEC intends to award a fixed-price, 24-month contract to PitchBook, with an option for an additional 12 months, below the FAR threshold for certain commercial items. PitchBook is the only source that meets the SEC's requirement, as its private equity dataset includes unique fields such as founder demographics and exit details. Interested parties were notified by the September 28th anticipated award date and November 24th response deadline to identify their capabilities, though no competitive solicitation will be issued. The sole source award recognizes PitchBook as the only current provider that can meet the SEC's specific data needs.

Original Notification:
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) intends to use the procedures of FAR Part 13.501(a) to award a fixed-price purchase order on a sole source basis to PitchBook Data, Inc. for subscription to private equity data. PitchBook Data Inc. is the only source found to meet the SEC’s requirement because PitchBook’s subscription provides a broader universe of companies and has more data items than what is available in other databases. The PitchBook dataset includes data fields required by the SEC that are not available in other datasets, such as, founder demographic characteristics and detailed information on terms of exits.
The total estimated value of the contract is below the dollar threshold in FAR 13.5 for the Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The anticipated period of performance of the contract is a Base Period of 24 months and one Option Period of 12 months. The SEC anticipates awarding a purchase order to Pitchbook Data, Inc. on or about September 13, 2023.
This notice is not a competitive request for proposals. A competitive solicitation will not be issued. However, the government will give consideration to interested parties that identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals by the response date of this notice.
