About this opportunity
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), specifically the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Cancer Institute (NCI), has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source for preventive maintenance services for a Bruker CosMx Spatial Molecular Imager. The notice is for the Office of Science and Technology Resources (OSTR), Spatial Imaging Technology Resource (SpITR) core, which provides advanced imaging services for cancer research. The government plans to procure maintenance services directly from Bruker Spatial Biology Inc, located in Billerica, MA, on a sole source basis. This decision is based on Bruker being the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and the only known provider of specialized service for this highly complex scientific equipment. The maintenance is critical for preserving the integrity of research processes and ensuring accurate calibration of the spatial molecular imaging technology.
Contractors interested in this opportunity must submit a capability statement or proposal via email to Miguel Diaz (miguel.diaz@nih.gov) by 12:00 P.M. EST on March 24, 2025. While the notice is not a competitive solicitation, the government will consider responses from interested parties, particularly small businesses, to determine if alternative service providers could meet the requirement. To be eligible, contractors must be registered and have valid certification through SAM.GOV. The maintenance contract covers one government-owned instrument, requiring one planned preventive maintenance visit annually, with emergency on-site repair services available during normal working hours. The contract will be a firm fixed-price purchase order with a 12-month performance period from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026, to be performed at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. Bruker's unique capabilities include providing OEM-generated software updates, immediate access to replacement parts, and comprehensive technical support by factory-trained engineers.
