About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Air Systems Command has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source a purchase order to Kamatics Corporation for specialized coating services related to F/A-18 Naval Landing Gear (NLG) Steering Collars. The notice, posted on June 4, 2025, with a response deadline of June 9, 2025, outlines the government's intention to award a contract on a sole source basis in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 13.106-1(b)(i). Fleet Readiness Center Southwest requires "off-site" services to apply and machine a new KAron liner profile configuration for a government-owned aircraft asset. Kamatics Corporation is identified as the only approved vendor capable of applying the molded liner per specific blueprint instructions, due to their proprietary KAron coating technology.
The Special Notice provides contractors with an opportunity to submit capability statements within three calendar days of publication, though it explicitly states this is not a competitive quote request. The government will evaluate any received information solely to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement, with the final decision remaining entirely at their discretion. Kamatics Corporation's unique qualification stems from their specialized KAron coating, a polyester, thermosetting, resin-based product incorporating Teflon particles that is tailored to meet specific aviation military specifications. Interested parties can contact Kim Compton at kimberly.a.compton6.civ@us.navy.mil for additional information. The contract falls under NAICS category 332812 (Metal Coating, Engraving, and Allied Services to Manufacturers) and PSC category J016 (Maintenance/Repair/Rebuild of Aircraft Components and Accessories), targeting a very specific and technically complex service requirement for naval aircraft maintenance.
