About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of Acquisition Services has issued a Notice of Intent to award a sole-source firm fixed price purchase order to SCINOMIX, INC for maintenance and support services related to Sci-Print VXL/AQ Perform liquid handlers. This special notice was posted on April 22, 2026, and indicates the government's intention to procure services for six proprietary liquid handling instruments used in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The contract will cover preventive maintenance, repairs, parts supply, and technical support to maintain instrument performance and data integrity. The sole-source justification is based on SCINOMIX's exclusive ownership of the intellectual property and technical capabilities required to service this proprietary equipment. This action is being conducted under the authority of Revolutionary FAR Overhaul 6.103-1 (Single Award Procedures).
The primary objective of this contract is to ensure the continued operational reliability of critical laboratory equipment essential to NHANES data collection efforts conducted through mobile examination centers across the United States. Although this is a sole-source procurement, the CDC is accepting quotations and responses from interested parties until May 7, 2026 at 10 a.m. EST, with submissions directed to the contract specialist at kpz5@cdc.gov. Responses received within 15 days of the notice's issuance will be evaluated by the government to determine whether a competitive procurement is warranted, though the final decision to compete remains solely within government discretion. There are no specific eligibility criteria outlined for participation, as this notice is informational in nature regarding the government's sole-source intent rather than a traditional competitive solicitation. Contractors interested in challenging the sole-source determination or providing relevant information should submit their responses by the May 7, 2026 deadline.
