About this opportunity

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), a component of the Department of Homeland Security, has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source contract for Automated Screening Lane (ASL) bins. The procurement involves 1,000 new ASL bins equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags specifically for security screening operations at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. TSA intends to award this contract directly to Vanderlande Industries Inc., located in Marietta, Georgia, citing the proprietary nature of these specialized bins. The notice was posted on August 21, 2025, and represents a non-competitive procurement action under Federal Acquisition Regulation authority 6.302.

The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform the marketplace of TSA's intention to proceed with sole source procurement while providing an opportunity for other vendors to express interest and demonstrate their capability to meet the requirements. Interested parties have until September 8, 2025, to respond and identify their potential to fulfill this requirement, though the notice explicitly states it is not a request for competitive proposals. The government retains full discretion to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement based on any responses received. Vendors seeking subcontracting opportunities are directed to contact Vanderlande Industries Inc. directly, and any information received will primarily be used to assess whether competitive procurement should be pursued instead of the planned sole source approach.
