About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) has published a Special Notice regarding its intent to sole source chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) reagent kits compatible with the Abbott Alinity instrumentation for use by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services (DPALS) at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to obtain CMIA reagent kits that are compatible with BAMC's existing Abbott Alinity instrumentation to conduct testing for traumatic brain injury protein markers. The proposed contract will be a firm fixed-price arrangement with a cost-per-test structure, with a base year from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025 and four one-year option periods through September 30, 2029, for a total estimated value of $491,206.52. Abbott Laboratories is the only vendor approved by the FDA to provide the required CMIA testing and compatible with BAMC's existing instrumentation. A sources sought notice was posted, but no other capable vendors responded. BAMC will be the first military treatment facility to implement this updated standard of care for diagnosing traumatic brain injuries in both service members and civilians.
