About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 7 (VA VISN 7) has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source a Stryker Q-Guidance Navigation System for the Columbia VAMC in support of the Birmingham VAMC. The notice concerns the procurement of a specialized medical navigation system for neurosurgical procedures, classified under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code 339112 for Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing. Stryker Instruments has been identified as the sole responsible source capable of providing this specific medical equipment. The system is designed to aid surgeons in precisely locating anatomical structures during open or percutaneous computer-assisted neurosurgery. The notice is being issued in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, which allows for procurement from only one responsible source when no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.

Interested contractors are invited to submit capabilities statements and qualifications for this opportunity, with responses required to be submitted electronically to Jeremy Calligan, Contracting Officer, by 12:00 noon EST on December 26, 2024. The Stryker Q-Guidance System offers unique features, including active, passive, and electromagnetic tracking, surgeon control on the operative field, a non-invasive patient tracker, and precision targeting for biopsies and tumor segmentation. The system is particularly notable for its seamless integration with the Ziehm 3D Radiology system currently used in the Birmingham VAMC's operating rooms. Potential respondents should ensure their submissions are comprehensive and sufficiently detailed to demonstrate their qualifications. The government emphasizes that this notice does not obligate a contract award and reserves the right to use submitted information as deemed necessary. Contractors should be aware that there is no guarantee of acknowledgment or feedback regarding their submissions, and the notice serves primarily as an informational opportunity for potential providers.
