About this opportunity
The Indian Health Service (IHS), an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source a contract for Hospital Accreditation Compliance support. The notice announces the government's plan to award a sole source contract to provide consultation and professional support for the Office of Quality. This contract is specifically targeted at two IHS healthcare facilities that require immediate assistance in maintaining accreditation standards from The Joint Commission (TJC) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The IHS serves approximately 2.8 million American Indians and Alaska Natives across 574 federally recognized tribes through a network of over 605 hospitals, clinics, and health stations in 37 states. The contract is critical for ensuring continued compliance and preventing potential disruptions in direct patient care services.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to secure professional support for maintaining hospital accreditation and compliance within the IHS system. Interested contractors must submit comprehensive information detailing their capabilities by 5:00 pm EST on May 28, 2025, with the understanding that the government reserves the right to determine whether to proceed with competitive procurement. The contract has a six-month base period and will focus on areas including leadership mentoring, executive team support, infection prevention, patient safety, facility safety, credentialing, and quality assessment. Notably, contractors currently providing staffing services at the specified facilities are explicitly ineligible to participate. The total contract value is $5,673,180.00, with potential for a six-month option period. The urgency of the contract stems from the risk of losing Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements and the need to address compliance issues at these critical healthcare facilities.
