About this opportunity

The 374th Contracting Squadron at Yokota Air Base, operating under Pacific Air Forces, has issued a Notice of Intent to sole source a procurement for ten (10) MilAirX 15 Modular Shoring Kits (DAMAS) to support the 730th Air Mobility Squadron in Japan. This special notice, posted on April 30, 2026, indicates the government's preliminary intent to award the contract to Military Airlift Experts LLC (MILAIRX LLC) based on market research demonstrating that only this vendor has previously demonstrated the capability to meet the specified requirements. However, the notice does not preclude competition and invites all responsible sources to submit documentation of their ability to fulfill the specifications. The procurement is being conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation 12.102(a) as a sole-source acquisition, with the final decision to compete remaining at the government's discretion.

Contractors interested in competing for this opportunity must submit written documentation detailing their capability to provide the required products and evidence that their items meet all certification requirements by the closing date of May 15, 2026, at 1300 Japan Standard Time. The specification sheet details that each modular shoring kit must be configured as 4-Leg 2up2dwn with a 448-inch assembled length and include specific ramp sections, wedges, stands, and a top-open side-access container with integrated forklift access. All kits must be certified for air transportability on C-5, C-17, and C-130 aircraft, and the contractor must provide English-language training manuals, technical support, spare parts capability with overseas shipping support, and a one-year warranty on all parts. Any responsible source meeting these technical and certification specifications may submit a proposal for consideration; the government will evaluate all submissions to determine the appropriateness of pursuing a competitive procurement.
