About this opportunity
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases issued a Notice of Intent to Award on a sole-source basis to Molecular Devices for maintenance service on SpectraMax Paradigm Multi-Mode Microplate Readers, with capability statements due by 5:00 PM EDT on September 16, 2026. The Government has determined that only Molecular Devices is reasonable because the equipment provides critical data measurement to ongoing research studies and has operated under proprietary factory service since installation; a midway change would introduce variables affecting data integrity and study control. The maintenance contract covers Compliance Assurance Service Plan, Onsite Performance Assurance, Onsite Essential Protection, and Consumable Parts Replacement for one year from award date. Performance takes place at the NIH Vaccine Immunology Program Lab in Gaithersburg, Maryland. All responsible sources believing they can satisfy the requirement may submit capability statements and supporting documentation demonstrating ability to meet the complete requirement to James French at jim.french@nih.gov. The Government will consider all timely responses before making its award decision and retains discretion to determine not to compete based on responses received. The Government will not reimburse respondent costs. An award notice dated September 29, 2026 documents purchase order PCA-NIAID-09685 to Molecular Devices for $95,165.30.
