About this opportunity
The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced its intent to award a sole source contract for repair services on Thermo Scientific Niton XL3t analyzers, with a response deadline of June 3, 2026. The agency invokes FAR 6.103-1(b), asserting that Thermo Scientific Portable Analytical Instruments (2 Radcliff Rd, Tewksbury, MA 01876) is the sole manufacturer, seller, and authorized service provider capable of meeting requirements. The analyzers screen consumer products for lead and other elements; repair and return to field operations is essential to agency mission.
Any firm believing it can supply the service may submit written notice to Contract Specialist Greg Grayson (ggrayson@cpsc.gov) by 3 PM EST on June 3, 2026. Supporting evidence must demonstrate capability in sufficient detail; telephone requests are not accepted. The government will evaluate responses but retains sole discretion to proceed with or without competition. If no responses are received, CPSC will negotiate sole source award directly with Thermo Scientific.
