About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command has issued a Notice of Intent to Award for ReRAD Data Collection Equipment at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. This special notice, posted on September 23, 2025, announces the Air Force's intention to award a sole source contract to Safran Defense & Space, Inc. for specialized flight test data recording equipment required by the 72nd Test Squadron. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334515 (Instrument Manufacturing for Measuring and Testing Electricity and Electrical Signals) with a small business size standard of 750 employees. The equipment is specifically designed for B-2A aircraft operations and includes data recorders, PCM input modules, and rugged storage modules that are exclusively manufactured and maintained by Safran Defense & Space.
The primary objective of this procurement is to acquire flight-qualified telemetry equipment necessary to support B-2A aircraft during critical airborne Force Development Evaluations and on-range data collection activities. While this is not a competitive solicitation, the Air Force has established a deadline of September 26, 2025, for any potential vendors to submit written capability statements demonstrating their ability to provide the required equipment. The government specifically encourages small businesses to respond if they can demonstrate competitive capabilities, with additional consideration promised for future similar requirements regardless of response timing. The sole source justification is based on the critical need for identical replacement equipment that maintains compatibility with existing B-2A aircraft systems, with Safran Defense & Space being the exclusive designer, manufacturer, and repair provider for these specialized instruments.
