About this opportunity

The USDA Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station published a Special Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract for DNA Sequencing Identifying Invasive Forest Pathogens. The Notice announces the Station's intent to award a contract noncompetitively to Psomagen Inc. for DNA sequencing and analysis services supporting research on forest pathogens.

The Special Notice provides details of the proposed sole source award. Psomagen Inc. would provide Sanger DNA sequencing of 2,300 samples, whole genome sequencing of two samples, and processing of 11 FTA cards. This is to identify endemic, invasive, and emerging forest pathogens and study their genetics, functions, and roles in forest ecosystems. Interested parties have until February 2024 to provide clear evidence that competition would benefit the government and potentially prompt a competitive procurement process. Otherwise, the award will be made solely to Psomagen Inc. due to its specialized technical capabilities for meeting the research station's requirements.
