About this opportunity

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) within the National Institutes of Health intends to award a sole-source firm-fixed-price purchase order to Mirion Technologies Inc. for on-site customer service and maintenance of nuclear measurement equipment, with a performance period of September 25, 2026, through September 24, 2027, and four option years; questions regarding this Notice of Intent are due August 19, 2026.

The procurement is issued under sole-source authority (FAR 6.302-1 and 12.102) based on Mirion's proprietary rights and patents for all hardware and software, exclusive factory-trained labor capability, and ISO-9001 certification as the sole nuclear instrumentation manufacturer holding that credential. Place of performance is Bethesda, Maryland. The NAICS code is 811210, Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance; PSC code is J066.

Services include system management, routine preventive maintenance, calibration of Whole Body Counter and High Purity Germanium Gamma Spectroscopy systems, software support, upgrades, operator training, and remote support. Calibration requires 12–16 hours for WBC systems and 8–16 hours for gamma spectroscopy systems over two-day on-site periods, with final documentation due within 14 days. The contractor must comply with IEEE 730.1 guidelines for software modifications and provide immediate notification of critical software problems. A Contracting Officer Representative-certified project manager and Field Support Engineer must be assigned immediately upon award. All personnel and equipment require complete and free access to NIH facilities; security escorts and clearances are the customer's responsibility. NIAID has operated its Analytical Laboratory with Mirion equipment for over 20 years and cites operational consistency and quality assurance as justification for continuation.
