About this opportunity
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), under the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration, has published a Notice of Intent (NOI) for maintenance service support of a Leica Stellaris5 STED super-resolution microscope. This Special Notice indicates the agency's intention to award a sole source purchase order to Leica Microsystems, Inc., though it remains open for capability statements from other eligible sources. The microscope is located in the CCR Microscopy Core at the NIH/NCI/CCR/LCBG facility and is used by NCI researchers to conduct fixed and live cell confocal and super-resolution imaging studies of cancer cells and tissues. The procurement falls under NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) and PSC code J066 (Maint/Repair/Rebuild Of Equipment- Instruments And Laboratory Equipment).
The primary objective is to secure a 12-month maintenance service support agreement that will keep the microscope in optimal operating condition through necessary repairs, calibration services, and labor performed by qualified technicians. Interested contractors must submit written capability statements via email to Ahmed Hassan and Caran Fizer by 10:00 AM on February 17, 2026, with only electronic submissions accepted. To be eligible, prospective contractors must be responsible sources with active SAM.GOV registrations. Although the government has indicated its intent to award this contract to Leica Microsystems as a sole source acquisition, the agency retains sole discretion to determine whether to compete the requirement based on the capability statements received from other interested parties.
