About this opportunity
The Department of Commerce National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration published a Special Notice seeking a vessel platform to support its Northeast Fisheries Science Center Sea Scallop Dredge Research Survey from May to July 2024, with options to renew through 2028. The selected contractor will provide a vessel, crew and required equipment to deploy scallop dredges and autonomous underwater vehicles along the continental shelf from Virginia to Massachusetts under the Center's research programs.
The Special Notice requests information from contractors interested and capable of providing a qualified crew and eligible vessel to conduct the scallop dredge survey. Responses are due by November 22, 2023 and must include details on company profile, vessel specifications and technical capabilities. To be considered, vessels must be able to operate at sea for 10 days while towing dredges and autonomous vehicles, and accommodate 7-9 scientists in addition to the crew. The opportunity could result in a formal solicitation for a one-year charter contract with four option years to collect fishery data supporting stock assessments and research from 2024 through 2028.
