About this opportunity
The Indian Health Service seeks one Registered Nurse for temporary operating room services at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, New Mexico, with quotes due August 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. MDT. This is a 100% Indian Small Business Economic Enterprise (ISBEE) set-aside, limiting competition to certified Indian Economic Enterprises meeting 25 U.S.C. 47 criteria with Indian ownership maintained through contract award and performance.
Place of performance is the Operating Room, Pre-Operative Area, Day Surgery Area, Post-Anesthesia Recovery, and Endoscopy Room at Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, New Mexico 87420. The contractor must provide one RN with a minimum of 24 months nursing experience, including at least two years in the operating room. Mandatory qualifications include a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license; Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications from the American Heart Association; comprehensive immunization documentation including rubella, mumps, measles, hepatitis B, varicella, Tdap, tuberculosis testing, and influenza vaccination; and passage of background checks and security investigations. The contractor must demonstrate cultural awareness and respect for American Indian and Alaska Native practices.
The contract runs for a six-month base period plus four optional six-month periods, totaling 30 months potential performance. The contractor must provide 1,250 regular hours, 100 call-back hours, and 600 on-call/stand-by hours per period. Work schedule includes Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m., plus on-call shifts requiring response within 15 minutes.
The NAICS code is 561320 (Temporary Help Services) with a $34 million size standard. Service Contract Act prevailing wage rates apply; nursing occupations in San Juan County, New Mexico receive rates ranging from approximately $12.12 to $61.70 per hour plus fringe benefits.
