About this opportunity

The Navajo Area Indian Health Service's Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC) in Shiprock, New Mexico has issued a Notice of Intent to Single-Source a preventative maintenance contract to Steris Corporation. This Special Notice, published by the Department of Health and Human Services Indian Health Service on March 24, 2026, announces the government's intention to award a non-competitive, firm-fixed-price contract for medical equipment maintenance services. The procurement is justified under RFO-FAR 6.103-1, which permits single-source awards when only one responsible source can satisfy agency requirements due to specialized equipment licensing agreements and warranty coverage. The contract covers maintenance for Steris Autoclaves, Washers, Endoscope Disinfectors, and Endodry Cabinets required by the Biomedical Engineering Department. The award is not subject to any small business or Indian Economic Enterprise set-asides.

The contract will run for a base year from April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027, with four optional one-year renewal periods extending through March 31, 2031. Potential competing sources must submit a capability statement to Mr. Stephen Silversmith, Contract Specialist, at stephen.silversmith@ihs.gov by 10:00 AM Mountain Time on March 31, 2026—the only deadline for participation. The government emphasizes that submission of capability statements does not obligate it to conduct competitive procurement, as the final determination to compete the award remains solely within government discretion. Interested parties should note that this notice is not a formal solicitation, oral communications will not be accepted, and the government will not acknowledge receipt or provide feedback to respondents. If the government elects to proceed competitively based on submitted capability statements, a formal solicitation will be issued; otherwise, the single-source award to Steris Corporation will proceed as planned.
