About this opportunity

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued a Special Notice of Intent to award a sole source contract for two Restek Nitrogen Generator General Purpose N2-14 units, manufacturer part number 20677. The notice indicates the DEA intends to award a firm-fixed price purchase order to RESTEK of Bellefonte, PA under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This procurement falls under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and has an estimated value between $10,000 and $250,000. The acquisition is classified as a sole source procurement under FAR 6.302-1(c), meaning competitive quotations are not being requested. The DEA has determined that only one source is reasonably available to supply these specialized nitrogen generators, which are required for the operation of LC/MS and LC/MS/MS laboratory systems.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to inform the market of the DEA's intent to proceed with a non-competitive award while providing an opportunity for other potential suppliers to demonstrate their capabilities. Any interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements must submit written responses describing their ability to provide the specified product to Robert Radke at robert.j.radke@dea.gov by September 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST, referencing number D-25-SS-0046. The DEA conducted market research involving multiple vendors and determined that Restek provided the most competitive offer, including a 15% discount compared to other sources. There are no specific eligibility criteria mentioned beyond the ability to provide the exact product specifications. The government reserves full discretion to proceed with the sole source award regardless of any responses received, and emphasizes that this notice creates no obligation to award contracts or provide feedback to respondents.
