About this opportunity

The Vermont Army National Guard's 158th Fighter Wing is seeking medical examination services for firefighters, specifically targeting occupational health screenings that comply with National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) standards. The agency is conducting a Sources Sought market research notice to identify potential small business contractors capable of providing comprehensive medical examinations for their firefighting personnel. Interested vendors must submit a capabilities statement and a written reply of no more than 5 pages by January 1, 2025, at 15:00 EST, detailing their ability to perform the required services. The procurement will involve conducting initial and annual physical examinations, including various medical tests and documentation as specified in the attached Performance Work Statement. Contractors must be able to schedule appointments within 10 working days and have a board-certified occupational medicine physician available to perform the examinations.

The opportunity is set aside exclusively for small businesses within the NAICS code 621111, with a size standard of $16 million. The contract structure includes a base year with two potential 12-month option years, with an estimated annual workload of approximately 3 initial exams and 25 annual exams. The services must be performed within Chittenden County, Vermont, and the contractor must maintain CAOHC-certified audiogram technicians and use a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services licensed laboratory. While no specific budget range was disclosed, the contract will cover medical examinations that must be completed annually and upon initial hire before firefighter school. The government emphasizes that this Sources Sought notice is for market research purposes only and does not guarantee a subsequent solicitation or contract award.

158 Fighter Wing is conducting market research to determine the existence of potential sources to provide 158 FW NFPA TIG FIRE FIGHTER MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS SERVICES.

It is possible to identify the maximum number needed each year. Therefore, it is possible to compute the highest cost per year thus it is the best interest to create an annual contract with 2 option years. This is a recurring requirement that must be completed annually and upon initial hire prior to fire fighter school.

Please see attached draft statement of work for service requirements. It is requested that interested companies provide a capabilities statement along with their notification of interest.

This request may not directly lead to a Request for Quotation/Proposal.  Deadline for submission is 1 January 2025 @ 15:00 EST.
