About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Contracting Command-New Jersey at Picatinny Arsenal is conducting a market survey to procure a new single caliber 6.8mm - 7mm X 63mm Medium Machine Gun (MMG) for the Project Manager Soldier Lethality. The Army seeks a weapon system that provides enhanced range and lethality while maintaining the size and weight characteristics of the current M240 series machine gun. Desired specifications include a rate of fire between 550-650 rounds per minute, compatibility with ground tripod and vehicle platform mounts, and potential chambering in cartridges like .270 Winchester or .280 Remington. Interested vendors must submit a comprehensive 10-page capability summary by May 8, 2025, at 5:00 pm EST, detailing technical performance, manufacturing readiness, and production capabilities. Evaluation criteria will focus on technical specifications, manufacturing capacity, lead times, and the vendor's ability to meet the Army's specific weapon system requirements.
This market survey does not constitute a formal solicitation and does not guarantee a contract award. The procurement is classified under NAICS code 332994 with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees, indicating potential opportunities for small businesses. While no specific award value is mentioned, the Army is seeking the capability to produce up to 5 weapons and 50,000 rounds of ammunition. Vendors are required to complete a vendor questionnaire and provide detailed information about their technical and manufacturing capabilities. Interested parties should contact Contract Specialist Melissa Jimenez or Contracting Officer Megan Sloan for additional information. The market survey represents an initial exploration of potential sources for a highly specialized military weapon system, with the ultimate goal of identifying manufacturers capable of meeting the Army's advanced machine gun requirements.
