About this opportunity
The National Institute of Diabetes Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) Intramural Research Program, through the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), is procuring two advanced confocal microscopes with state-of-the-art array detector technology to replace equipment over 10 years old. The solicitation seeks an LSM 990 and an LSM 910 Confocal Microscope System, each with sophisticated imaging capabilities including Airyscan super-resolution detection, multiple laser lines, and advanced software modules that will provide 3-20x faster speed, 1.4-2x resolution improvements, and 3-10x enhanced sensitivity compared to existing equipment. This Request for Quotation (RFQ) number 75N94025Q00216 will be awarded as a Firm Fixed Price purchase order using Simplified Acquisition Procedures under FAR Part 13, with evaluation based on technical factors and cost/price considerations. The solicitation was posted on September 1, 2025, following an amendment that corrected a typographical error, and quotes are due by September 3, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Vendors must provide on-site training for up to four users and ensure installation by certified personnel.
This procurement is conducted through full and open competition with no set-aside designation for small businesses, operating under NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees. No incumbent contractors or potential award values are specified in the solicitation documents, though the sophisticated nature of the microscope systems suggests a substantial investment. The contract requires delivery of two complete microscope configurations with specific hardware, objectives, software packages, and accessories to NIH facilities in Bethesda, Maryland. Installation must be completed by manufacturer-certified personnel, and the vendor must provide comprehensive training to ensure proper operation of the advanced imaging systems. The procurement timeline is expedited, with only a two-day response period following the amendment's publication.
