About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goddard Space Flight Center is seeking proposals to design, analyze, manufacture, test, and deliver 26 Coarse Sun Sensors and associated ground support equipment for use on the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope project. The anticipated contract is a firm-fixed price award for approximately 12 months. The request for proposal is expected to be released on March 2020, with proposals due by May 15, 2020. Evaluation will be based on technical approach and price.

The North American Industry Classification System code is 336419 for other guided missile and space vehicle parts manufacturing, with a size standard of 1,000 employees. There is no set-aside designation. Potential offerors shall notify the identified point of contact by the due date of their intent to submit an offer and monitor the beta.SAM.gov website for the solicitation and any amendments. NASA/GSFC has a new requirement for a Coarse Sun Sensors for the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST) Project.

WFIRST is a NASA observatory designed to perform wide-field imaging and slitless spectroscopic surveys of the near infrared (NIR) sky for the community as well as direct imaging of exoplanets and debris disks using a coronagraph. WFIRST is the top-ranked large space mission in the New Worlds, New Horizon (NWNH) Decadal Survey of Astronomy and Astrophysics.

This contract will provide the facilities, personnel, services, tools, equipment, and materials necessary to design, analyze, manufacture, test, and deliver Coarse Sun Sensors. 

It is anticipated that the subject contract will be a full and open competition, and Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) effort.  The period of performance will be for approximately 12 months.

The Government anticipates a release of the Request for Proposal (RFP) in March 2020. 

The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
